FROM BIRMINGHAM TO BOND STREET
On Saturday 16th August we kicked off our search for the greatest UK MONOPOLIST with the first MONOPOLY Regional Championship of 2008 at the NEC in Birmingham. Keen MONOPOLY enthusiasts from all over the country came to take part in a round robin competition, which saw the first 4 competitors win through to guarantee their place in the MONOPOLY UK Finals next year!
Competition was tough and there were some amazing performances on the day! Congratulations must go to Anne Connolly who stormed her way through the day - only failing to bankrupt 1 player in all 3 rounds!
Deals, neagotiations and auctions were happening all around the tables with most games being finished well within an hour!
In our first Junior competition which ran alongside the senior tournament, Lawrence Bartlett who just happened to be there to support his Dad took part and pipped the the other competitiors to the post to claim the first spot in the MONOPOLY Junior final, also taking place next year!
Great fun was had by all and it was fantastic to see so many people turn up to try and win the chance to represent the UK in Las Vegas in 2009!
The competition for the UK finals already looks 'hot' and with three regional championships still to go, the search for the greatest MONOPOLY player goes on........come and join us at one of the other destination if you think you've got what it takes to be there!
Thanks
The MONOPOLY Team

THE SEARCH FOR THE UK’S MONOPOLY CHAMPION IS ON
The 13th MONOPOLY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS is fast approaching and Parker, makers of the world’s most iconic board game is inviting all Monopoly enthusiasts in and around Birmingham to roll and deal their way to Las Vegas in the search for a UK representative!
In a bid to find both an adult and junior UK Monopoly Champion to fly the flag in Vegas, the UK Monopoly Championships will consist of four regional heats in 2008, before a Grand Final in London early 2009 when the UK champions will be crowned.
Like the Olympics, the Monopoly World Championships take place every four years. Tokyo was the last host city where representatives from 36 countries rolled and negotiated their way round the board. In 2009, Parker is excited to announce Las Vegas as the glitzy host city.
The first of the four UK heats is at the NEC, Birmingham on 16 August and will see 100 competitors battle it out to win a place at the Grand Final in London.
